Description

This acidic and dynamic painting displays fiery and joyous orange tones. The dominating colour has a mesmerising burnt amber shade like a sunny mandarin. The orange stripes are either fading to yellow or deepening to red.

Orange was not seen as a separate colour on its own right until relatively recently as they were once thought of as red or yellow. Lara managed to fire up on new optical theories of colour contrasts to create a beautiful eye-catching shade of pumpkin. There is no doubt that the shades of orange that she produced have confidence in them.

The painting represents the colour not as a passive, decorative element but as a signifier of meaning. The zinging contrasts of various pigments are vibrant with life. The rest of the artworks have much softer pastel shades.
