Description

In her work, Lara avoids representing her own emotions. Instead, she strives to stimulate emotional responses in the viewer by considering the psychological qualities of color and referring to the Munsell color system. The system arranges colors based on three properties of it: hue (basic color), chroma (intensity of color), and value (lightness). She assesses the Munsell characteristics of her colors and then arranges them according to the 3D color spectrum, exploring the relationship between them and the effect it has. Through such manipulation, Julian can achieve sinking or emergence of color from the canvas surface while representing all sensations of it.
